On Demand Water Heater
As a leading provider of heating solutions in North Vancouver and West Vancouver, we specialize in the service, repair, installation, and maintenance of on-demand water heaters, ensuring that your home or business enjoys continuous access to hot water efficiently and economically.
What is an On-Demand Water Heater?
On-demand water heaters, also known as tankless water heaters, provide hot water only as it is needed. Unlike traditional water heaters that store and continuously heat water in a tank, tankless water heaters heat water directly without the need for a storage tank, leading to energy savings and consistent delivery of hot water.
Benefits of On-Demand Water Heaters
- Energy Efficiency: By heating water only on demand, these units are more energy-efficient than traditional tank water heaters, potentially lowering your energy bills.
- Continuous Hot Water: Enjoy a constant supply of hot water – perfect for families and businesses that require large volumes of hot water.
- Space Saving: With no need for a bulky storage tank, tankless water heaters free up valuable space in your home or commercial property.
- Longer Lifespan: On-demand water heaters typically have a longer lifespan than traditional tank heaters, offering better investment value over time.

Optimal hot water performance at your fingertips
NWP500 gives you the flexibility to match hot water production to your household’s needs, with five customizable operating modes.
Energy Saver (Hybrid: Efficiency)
The default mode, balancing efficiency and performance by using the heat pump as the primary heat source with electric backup for faster recovery.
High Demand (Hybrid: Boost)
Prioritizes faster hot water recovery by more actively using the electric heating elements alongside the heat pump.
Heat Pump Only
Maximizes energy savings by using only the heat pump. Best for efficiency, but with a longer recovery time (depending on ambient temperature).
Electric Only
Uses only electric heating elements for the fastest recovery time. Electric Only is the least efficient and automatically returns to the previous operating mode after 72 hours.
Vacation mode
When activated, reduces the water heater’s temperature to a lower setting, typically around 50°F, preventing freezing and reducing energy consumption.

Heat pump water heater FAQ
How does a heat pump water heater work?
A heat pump water heater extracts heat from the surrounding air to warm the water inside the tank. This method is significantly more efficient than traditional electric resistance water heaters.
What is a hybrid water heater?
Commonly called heat pump water heater, a hybrid water heater uses a heat pump to extract heat from the surrounding air and transfer it to the water in the tank. Hybrid/heat pump water heaters also include a standard electric water heater as a backup for times of high demand, to shorten recovery time.
Will a heat pump water heater work in cold climates?
Our hybrid heat pump/electric water heater will work in any climate, since they are installed indoors and maximum efficiency requires a surrounding air temperature at or above 40°F. Should surrounding air temperature drop below 40°F, High Demand or Electric only mode is recommended
Will a heat pump water heater make my basement or house colder?
As a heat pump water heater operates, the air passing over the evaporator coil will experience a temperature drop – similar to that of a small air conditioner. But the impact on your basement temperature isn’t as great as you might think. The temperature might drop by a couple degrees during the heat pump cycle, but it will return to normal when the cycle is over. Overall air cooling will depend on hot water usage, water heater mode (whether it’s heat pump only, hybrid, or electric only), basement size, and insulation. Cooling and dehumidification from the heat pump cycle can be beneficial in warmer months.
Can I install a heat pump water heater in a small space?
Yes, but proper ventilation is required. The NWP500 Series requires at least 450 cubic feet of space for unvented installations, or ducting for enclosed spaces.
